Who: YGL-B members and friends/family are welcome to sign up.

What: An opportunity to volunteer at a DC public school and make a positive difference in kids’ lives. Projects include painting classrooms, planting trees, and other “hands-on” projects. Please see the attached flyer for additional details.

 

When: Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 9:00 am -4:00pm (rain or shine).

Where: Browne School, 26th St. NE, Washington, DC

This is the area in Southeast DC where you can find Nationals Park.   One of my co-workers pointed me to JD Land, the website of a local resident who covers this “Near Southeast DC Redevelopment” in great detail.

NBC4 posts a rather useful PDF showing where to park if you really must drive to the stadium. They have several articles covering Nationals Park.

Since I take the Metro to work and read the Express every morning, I noticed an article covering walking distances from several nearby Metro stops that gives approximate walking times to Nationals Park. (Note: The original print version shows more of the streets near the stadium)

Community service projects
Charitable organizations
Public works development
Park planning and clean up projects

We have several goals:

  • Develop a common portal for Washington, DC residents to learn about community projects
  • Empower anyone with motivation to drive service projects within the DC area
  • Track progress of ongoing projects
  • Notify locals of community events that make DC a better place to live

At the moment, this site is nothing more than a concept. But with the spirit of like-minded, caring individuals, we can turn this idea into a living forum, developed and maintained by people like you.
